‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck’
by Mark Manson
Not your run-of-the-mill self-help book! It is hard to put away once you start reading 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck'. I felt like the book is actually speaking to me, page after page, chapter after chapter.
I am sharing a few excerpts that I found really intriguing and relatable.
…the idea that the more you pursue feeling better all the time, the less satisfied you become, as pursuing something only reinforces the fact that you lack it in the first place.
The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering.
Highs come in many forms. Whether it’s a substance like alcohol, the moral righteousness that comes from blaming others, or the thrill of some new risky adventure, highs are shallow and unproductive ways to go about one’s life.
Something about recent technology seems to allow our insecurities to run amok like never before. The more freedom we’re given to express ourselves, the more we want to be free of having to deal with anyone who may disagree with us or upset us. The more exposed we are to opposing viewpoints, the more we seem to get upset that those other viewpoints exist.
It’s worth remembering that for any change to happen in your life, you must be wrong about something. If you’re sitting there, miserable day after day, then that means you’re already wrong about something major in your life, and until you’re able to question yourself to find it, nothing will change.
